Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Prepare to monitor and control odourisation of gas
  2. Job requirements and workplace procedures for the work are obtained and discussed with relevant person/s to confirm the work schedule
  3. Hazards are identified, WHS/OHS risks are assessed and control measures prioritised, implemented and monitored in accordance with workplace procedures
  4. Scope of work under the relevant work permit/notification is obtained and confirmed with relevant person/s in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
  5. Materials, plans, diagrams, drawings and resources required for work are scheduled and obtained in accordance with workplace procedures
  6. Responsibilities for first aid and other emergency incidents at the work site are confirmed with relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures
  7. Relevant person/s are consulted to ensure the work is coordinated effectively with others in accordance with workplace procedures
  8. Person/s participating in gas odourisation are briefed and responsibilities confirmed in accordance with workplace procedures
  9. Site preparation, safety plan and work schedule are confirmed with relevant person/s in accordance with established procedures
  10. Monitor and control odourisation of gas
  11. Hazardous activities are conducted safely in accordance with job instructions, regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
  12. Gas odourisation equipment is operated and adjustments are made to odourant levels in accordance with workplace procedures
  13. Gas odourisation is monitored and controlled to the required standard without waste of materials or damage to the apparatus, circuits and the surrounding environment or services using sustainable energy principles
  14. Odourant is handled and transported in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures and potential hazards and safety risks monitored and control measures implemented
  15. Unplanned events and non-routine problems are referred to authorised person/s for directions in accordance with workplace procedures
  16. Odourant spill response and waste management emergency shutdown procedures are applied in the event of an odourant spill in the workplace
  17. Quality and safety checks are conducted in accordance with industry standards and workplace procedures
  18. Complete work and relevant documentation
  19. Tools, equipment and any surplus resources and materials are cleaned, checked and securely stored in accordance with workplace procedures
  20. Relevant work permit/s are signed off and equipment returned to service in accordance with job and regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
  21. Relevant person/s are notified of the completion of the work in accordance with workplace procedures
  22. Work completion documentation is completed and provided to the appropriate person/s in accordance with workplace procedures
